医学考博英语写作好句集锦

句子-1

与牙龈相关的细菌能催发包括心脏病、中风以及糖尿病在内的很多疾病。
参考写法：Gum-related bacteria are known to be the catalyst for a host of problems, including heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

亮点表达：catalyst

catalyst 是名词，意思是 “触媒，催化剂”，在英文中用来比喻“触发因素，促进因素”，生动形象。

请大家注意，这个词常和介词 for 连用，catalyst for sth 这个短语表示引发变化的因素；促使变化的人。例如：
I very much hope that this case will prove to be a catalyst for change.
我非常希望这件事终将成为促成变化的催化剂。

这个短语很地道，英美报刊经常出现。可以用作 different kinds of、all kinds of 等等小学生短语的高级替代。

注意，这个短语从本质上说是一个由 of 引导的后置定语，使用的时候一定要放在被修饰词的后面。例如：
All our applications contain bugs of one sort or another.

这个短语意为“在......上取得巨大进展”，可以用来替代烂大街的 make great progress in doing sth.

In an interview, Glass said the need for attention to NCDs has become increasingly urgent as populous nations like India and China have made great strides in prolonging life expectancy.
格拉斯在访谈中说，随着印度和中国等人口众多的国家在延长预期寿命方面取得长足进展，关注非传染性疾病的必要性已变得日益迫切。

正如专家指出的那样，抗生素是一把双刃剑，可以用来造福，亦可造成危害。
参考写法：As is so often pointed out, antibiotic is a double-edged weapon，bringing with it both benefits and hazards.

亮点表达：a double-edged sword / weapon

edge是“刀锋、刀刃”，sword是“剑”，那double-edged sword就是“双刃剑”了，可以引申为“好坏兼有的事”。它的一个近义表达是 a mixed blessing。

例如：
It is generally acknowledged that technology is a double-edged sword, both contributing to and combating isolation.
人们普遍承认，科技是一把双刃剑，既导致了孤独，也能用来战胜孤独。

接种疫苗或许完全可以使流感的预防成为可能。
参考写法：Vaccination may well open the door to the prevention of influenza.

亮点表达：open the door to sth.

open the door 这个短语应该没有人不会吧？除了字面意义“开门”，还可以用来表达 “给......开启了一扇大门；使......成为可能”，用来替代直白乏味的 “make sth. possible”。而且open the door to ... 这样的表达好记又好写，考试的时候拼写错误的概率为零。

你看，好的英文写作应该 carry weight，句子要简洁，含义要丰富，每个词都有用且不多余。这样的凝练大气的句子，考试的时候考试的时候要想方设法卖弄出来，阅卷老师看到直接就给跪了啊。这里顺便教大家一个鉴别英语老师水平的办法，如果一个老师教你拼命往句子里堆叠单词来增加作文字数，那该老师的英语写作水平非常值得质疑。
